A little bit of digging into history.

Sabah is a state located in the northern portion of Borneo Island, Malaysia. Its history dates back to the Neolithic period, with evidence of human habitation spanning across thousands of years. The region was ruled by several regional kingdoms, such as the Bruneian Empire and the Sulu Sultanate, before being administered by the British North Borneo Company in the 19th century.

During World War II, Sabah was occupied by the Japanese Empire before being re-established as a British Crown Colony after the war. In 1963, Sabah joined Sarawak, Singapore and Malaya to form the Federation of Malaysia, becoming one of the country's founding states.

Throughout its history, Sabah has played an important role in the region's trade and commerce, and its diverse culture has been influenced by its long history of trade and immigration from various parts of the world.
